Yesterday, Monday 25th May, the Government announced plans to enable more businesses, in England, to open up over the next 2 weeks.

Updated guidance has been issued to reflect industry feedback, which covers non essential retail categories ahead of the planned opening.

5 steps to working safely during COVID-19

Businesses must take practical actions based on these 5 main steps:

  1. Complete a COVID-19 Risk Assessment
  2. Develop cleaning, hand washing and hygiene procedures
  3. Help people work from home
  4. Maintain 2m social distancing where possible
  5. Where 2m distancing cannot be achieved, manage transmission risk

Make sure you read all the guides relevant to your workplace. There are specific actions for businesses to take based on these steps.

Remember you need to engage with employees that are coming in to work, to look at all the relevant factors including their health and the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
